Our mission

Behind every person you see struggling is a friend, partner, family member, peer, carer, or colleague doing their best to support. However very often these everyday carers have not had warning, training, or been given advice on how to manage the process for themselves or the person they are helping. We believe there is a big support gap that can be closed if we collectively share our learnings, insights and tips to navigating these difficult times.

Information

When someone opens up to you about something you’ve not experienced it’s hard to know the right words to say, so we search for information, that could help you better understand what they’re struggling with.

Reassurance

Taking on other people’s emotions or experiences can be extremely isolating, lonely and leave you feeling helpless. We want you to feel reassured that you’re not alone and this is a very common things to be navigating.

Discretion

Not everyone wants to share what they are going through with the people around them so we aim to make all of our content discrete and accessible in different mediums. From our branding to our messaging, we’ll aim to be

A note from our founder

Hi, I’m Stef.

Throughout my life, I’ve supported with depression, anxiety, sexual assault, and trauma.

As a person, I love to help but having never experienced any of these things myself, I’ve struggled with knowing what to do when people opened up to me.

Truthfully I didn’t know what to say, how to help or how to stop thinking about what they’d shared with me.

I wasn’t qualified to give professional advice and I didn’t feel like I could share what I knew with others, so that left me feeling scared, worried and isolated.

When I searched online for guidance I struggled to find relatable content that comforted or supported carers through the journey.

I found the process of sifting through the internet looking for help emotionally draining and overwhelming, often without any clear direction on where I could find help for myself.

This led me to question:

Where is the support for the people supporting others?

The more I spoke about this support gap publicly, the more people opened up to me to say they felt unsupported too.

This lived experience led me to develop This Might Help.

A platform created by someone who understands how hard it can be to support people you care about, without the support for yourself.
